Graduating High School Seniors -- 2023 Scholarship Season is now open! The Community Foundation of Carroll County supports more than 55 academic, sports, special circumstances, and 4-H scholarships. The common application is an easy way for students to APPLY ONCE and see all the scholarship opportunities they are eligible for (deadline April 15, 2023). 4-H Club Participants – Use the 4-H/FFA Scholarships common application for additional opportunities just for you (deadline July 1, 2023).

The Charles W. Lewis Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in 2004 by his family. Mr. Lewis did not have the advantage of monetary funds for college but he strongly believed in the value of education. As a result, during his lifetime, he tried to provide that support to others to help them achieve their educational goals. The purpose of this Fund is to provide a scholarship for a graduating senior of a Carroll County, Maryland, High School who will pursue a college education in Engineering, who has a financial need, who has exhibited academic achievement, and who has demonstrated involvement in his or her community. The student must have been enrolled at a Carroll County High School for his or her entire junior and senior years. Students enrolled in Engineering courses at the Carroll Career and Technology Center will be given special consideration. Follow the links below for additional criteria and application. SCHOLARSHIP SELECTION CRITERIA: Scholarships will be awarded each year to a student who meets the following criteria: 1. The student will have been accepted at an accredited four-year college or university. 2. The student must have maintained a grade point average of 3.0 or above for his or her entire high school career. (Senior year calculated at end of third marking period.) 3. The student must have shown outstanding citizenship traits and have been involved in student service activities, extra-curricular activities, and gainful employment during his or her high school career. 4. The student must have been enrolled at a Carroll County High School for his or her entire junior and senior years. Students enrolled in Engineering courses at the Carroll Career and Technology Center will be given special consideration. 5. The student shall have exhibited a strong work ethic. 6. When all other factors are considered equal, consideration will be given to students who have demonstrated a financial need.The money shall be transmitted by the Community Foundation of Carroll County directly to the desired college or university and applied directly to the student's tuition and books. The award will be split between semesters. The monies shall not be remitted to the FUND winner. |
